The Interceding Priest

The purpose of this study is to understand who Yahshua is and what his role and purpose is for this age as it relates to his ministry of high priest, mediator, and intercessor. We will be answering the following questions:

  • What was the old testament process for covering iniquity?
  • How has the process for propitiation changed from the old to the new testament?
  • What happens when we’re purified in the name of Yahshua?
  • What is the process after our purification when we sin?
  • What sin did Elohim take away through the sacrifice of Yahshua?
  • What happens on the day of atonement?

The objective of this study is to understand Yahshua’s atonement for our sins, the hidden processes that are taking place, and how these processes relate to us.

    YAH spoke to Moshe, saying, “Speak to Aharon, and to his sons, and to all the children of Yisra’el, and say to them: ’This is the thing which YAH has commanded, Whatever man there is of the house of Yisra’el, who kills an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp, and hasn’t brought it to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to offer it as an offering to YAH before the tabernacle of YAH: blood shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people. This is to the end that the children of Yisra’el may bring their sacrifices, which they sacrifice in the open field, that they may bring them to YAH, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to the Priest, and sacrifice them for sacrifices of peace offerings to YAH. The Priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of YAH at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet savor to YAH. (Leviticus 17:1-6 RNWEB)

The sacrifices are offered for sin at the temple by a priest, these go hand in hand, you can’t offer the sacrifice without the priest. The purpose of the sacrifice is to atone or cover iniquity, reconcile, bring peace between man and YAH, and defer wrath.

    “’Any man of the house of Yisra’el, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who eats any kind of blood, I will set my face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life. (Leviticus 17:10-11 RNWEB)

The blood is what covers or reconciles our iniquity, because the life of the flesh is in the blood.

    For as to the life of all flesh, its blood is with its life: therefore I said to the children of Yisra’el, “You shall not eat the blood of any kind of flesh; for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.” (Leviticus 17:14 RNWEB)

What we should understand so far is that the sacrifice is made at the tabernacle by a priest who presents the blood as a covering for iniquity. The things we need to remember are the priest, tabernacle, sacrifice, and blood.

    YAH spoke to Moshe, after the death of the two sons of Aharon, when they drew near before YAH, and died; and YAH said to Moshe, “Tell Aharon your brother, not to come at all times into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die: for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat. (Leviticus 16:1-2 RNWEB)

The mercy seat and the veil are located in the tabernacle, which Aaron and his sons are the priests and mediators over. The high priest was only allowed to go behind the veil in the tabernacle once per year, the area behind the veil was known as the holy of holies and it was the dwelling place of Elohim. In the holy of holies was the mercy seat which was covered by two Cherubim with there wings touching one another, there was a fiery cloud just above which represented Elohim, the priest enters behind the veil and sprinkles the blood of the lamb over the mercy seat, which was done in the presence of Elohim to atone for the sins of the people.

    “Herewith shall Aharon come into the sanctuary: with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be dressed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on. He shall take from the congregation of the children of Yisra’el two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. “Aharon shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house. He shall take the two goats, and set them before YAH at the door of the Tent of Meeting. Aharon shall cast lots for the two goats; one lot for YAH, and the other lot for the scapegoat. Aharon shall present the goat on which the lot fell for YAH, and offer him for a sin offering. But the goat, on which the lot fell for the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before YAH, to make atonement for him, to send him away for the scapegoat into the wilderness. “Aharon shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself. He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before YAH, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: and he shall put the incense on the fire before YAH, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, so that he will not die. He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times. “Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: and he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Yisra’el, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting, that dwells with them in the midst of their uncleanness. This process was put in place for the uncleanness of Yisrael and because of their transgressions and all there sins. This is the grace that Elohim provided in the wilderness, which is why Yochanan said we all receive grace upon grace (john 1:16). The penalty for sin is death, so it’s only by his grace that we are alive today, since we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Elohim. This grace is provided so we may come under the knowledge of truth, so through his grace and mercy we’re being extended time. When we come to the knowledge of truth, then to whom much is given, much is required. Once we have the knowledge of truth we’re required to walk in that understanding, however we’re far from perfect so if we should sin a sacrifice must be offered up to propitiate our iniquity.

Since Yahshua died for our iniquity, we need to understand what we must do when we sin or inadvertently commit some type of trespass presumptuously and defiant of Elohim. Christendom says just confess it and move on, and though we want to do this it’s important we approach the Most High remorsefully truly wanting forgiveness and willing to completely turn from our sin. In other words, it’s more than just saying the words. We need to understanding there is something more working behind the scenes to address our iniquity.

    There shall be no one in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Yisra’el. “He shall go out to the altar that is before YAH and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it on the horns of the altar round about. He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Yisra’el. “When he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat. AHARON SHALL LAY BOTH HIS HANDS ON THE HEAD OF THE LIVE GOAT, AND CONFESS OVER HIM ALL THE INIQUITIES OF THE CHILDREN OF YISRA’EL, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; AND HE SHALL PUT THEM ON THE HEAD OF THE GOAT, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness. (Leviticus 16:17-21 RNWEB)

This is speaking about Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, which means day of covering or reconciliation. It’s important we understand that YAH set aside a specific day to atone, cover, and reconcile our iniquity. When we get to the new testament you will see this again. Notice what happens, Aaron lays both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confesses over it all the crookedness of the children of Yisrael. He is mediating and interceding for the sons of Yisrael, by confessing all there sins before Elohim, and at the same time placing them on the head of the goat.

    The goat shall carry all their iniquities on himself to a solitary land, and he shall let the goat go in the wilderness. “Aharon shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there. Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people. The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar. “He who lets the goat go for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried forth outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire. He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. “It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the native-born, or the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you: (Leviticus 16:22-29 RNWEB)

Yom Kippur, the day of atonement must still be adhered to today, only we are no longer required to sacrifice an animal for the covering of our iniquity. We will cover more details on why, as we continue.

    for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before YAH. (Leviticus 16:30 RNWEB)

We must be completely clean to stand in the presence of Elohim, we also must understand the proper process to achieve this.

    It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls; IT IS A STATUTE FOREVER. The Priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be Priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments. Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. “THIS SHALL BE AN EVERLASTING STATUTE FOR YOU, to make atonement for the children of Yisra’el once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as YAH commanded Moshe.     Yet it pleased YAH to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of YAH shall prosper in his hand. (Isaiah 53:10 RNWEB)

This is a prophecy concerning Yahshua, who is the sacrifice that Elohim himself is offering up.

    The next day, he saw Yahshua coming to him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of Elohim, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29 RNWEB)

What sin was being taken away?

    But now apart from the [Sacrificial] law, a righteousness of Elohim has been revealed, being testified by the Torah and the Prophets; even the righteousness of Elohim through faith in Yahshua the Anointed to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of Elohim; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in the Anointed Yahshua; whom Elohim set forth to be an atoning sacrifice, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the Passing over of PRIOR SINS, in Elohim’s forbearance; (Romans 3:21-25 RNWEB)

Obtaining righteousness without sacrifice was impossible in the days of old, however it is possible in this age because of the sacrifice Elohim has made on our behalf, which was prophesied in Isaiah fifty three. This is why Yochanan said, behold the lamb of Elohim who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

Once we have accepted Elohims sacrifice through purification in the name of Yahshua the anointed, we’re cleansed of all our past sins, this is a one time cleansing, giving us a clean slate. Since this does not cover present and future iniquity, we need to understand the process of reconciliation and atonement for trespasses we do going forward.

    in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins; (Colossians 1:14 RNWEB)

This is referring to sins past, as it was documented in Romans 3:25.

    in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (Ephesians 1:7 RNWEB)

We’re dealing with the sins of our past which have been forgiven, Sha’ul said that some were murderers, liars, adulterers, fornicators, drunkards etc…, but now we have been washed (1 Cor 6:1-11), all this has been removed from us.

    “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of YAH, (Acts 3:19 RNWEB)

When we initially repent an are purified our sins are blotted out, completely removed, however we still need to deal with trespasses we commit going forward.

    By so much, Yahshua has become the collateral of a better covenant. Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death. But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable. (Hebrews 7:22-24 RNWEB)

He has an unchangeable priesthood because he still lives, he is the only one holding this office. There’s no other priests of Elohim on earth during this age.

    Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to Elohim through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25 RNWEB)

Why would Yahshua be set up in a priestly role if when he was offered as a sacrifice all sin past, present and future were addressed? Yahshua is carrying two different offices, he is a sacrifice for everyone that comes to Elohim, washing away there past sins, and he intercedes on our behalf for the things we continue to do wrong after our purification. Remember Aaron confessed the sins of the people to Elohim and transferred them to the head of the goat, by placing his hands on its head, will see how this process is illustrated in the new testament.

    For such a High Priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; who doesn’t need, like those Priestim Gedolim, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. FOR HE DID THIS ONCE FOR ALL, WHEN HE OFFERED UP HIMSELF. For the Torah appoints men as Priestim Gedolim who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the Torah [of sacrifice] appoints A SON FOREVER WHO HAS BEEN PERFECTED. (Hebrews 7:26-28 RNWEB)
    Now indeed even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service, and an earthly sanctuary. For a tabernacle was prepared. In the first part were the menorah, the table, and the show bread; which is called the Holy Place. After the second veil was the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aharon’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant; and above it Keruvim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, of which things we can’t speak now in detail. Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services, but into the second the High Priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself, and for the errors of the people. The Holy Spirit is indicating this, that the way into the HOLY PLACE WASN’T YET REVEALED WHILE THE FIRST TABERNACLE WAS STILL STANDING; (Hebrews 9:1-8 RNWEB)

We see the way in to the holiest of all was not yet revealed, so there is going to be a change in the administrative process for reconciliation that had not been revealed to the sons of Yisrael on how everyone would have global propitiation.

    which is a symbol of the present age, where gifts and sacrifices are offered that are incapable, concerning the conscience, of making the worshipper perfect; being only (with meats and drinks and various washings) fleshly ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. But the Anointed having come as a High Priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, (Hebrews 9:9-11 RNWEB)

Yahshua became the tabernacle and fulfillment of the end time propitiation process. He became the priest, the blood, the sacrifice, and the tabernacle, which are the four components we reviewed earlier in Leviticus that reconciled Yisrael to the Elohim.

    nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh: how much more will the blood of the Anointed, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to Elohim, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living Elohim? For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has occurred for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, that those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. (Hebrews 9:12-15 RNWEB)
    It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For the Anointed hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of Elohim for us; (Hebrews 9:23-24 RNWEB)

Yahshua appears in heaven as Aaron appeared behind the veil, which is a symbolic representation of what Yahshua is doing in heaven. Elohim first established a tabernacle of propitiation offerings on earth, which is the very same thing that takes place in heaven, Yahshua stands before Elohim on Yom Kippur, the day of atonement confessing the sins of everyone that has come to Elohim through him. He already fulfilled the role of sacrifice and is now operating in a priestly role.

    nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the High Priest enters into the holy place year by year with blood not his own, or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. (Hebrews 9:25-26 RNWEB)

Yahshua removes the sins we committed before our purification, and intercedes for the sins we commit after. Under the covenant we can voluntarily bring prayers of sacrifice for repentance, and he also gave us Yom Kippur as a purgative [cleansing, purifying], which is a process to flush every trace of iniquity from the community. Which sends the message of how much YAH really hates sin and only blots out iniquity according to his will, based on the condition of our heart when we ask for forgiveness. It’s very important that when we ask to be cleansed from any type of sin that we are remorseful and our intentions pure.

Remorseful – Sorry, full of regret, regretful, contrite, repentant, penitent, guilt-ridden, conscience-stricken, chastened, self-reproachful.

    Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment, so the Anointed also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, without sin, to those who are eagerly waiting for him for salvation. (Hebrews 9:27-28 RNWEB)

Yahshua is not coming to deal with sin the second time in terms of propitiation, he is coming to judge sin.

    Every Priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins, but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of Elohim; from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet. For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them: ’After those days,’ says YAH, ’I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;’” then he says, “I WILL REMEMBER THEIR SINS AND THEIR INIQUITIES NO MORE.” (Hebrews 10:11-17 RNWEB)

The sins of the past will be remembered no more, so we need a priest whose responsibility is to intercede on our behalf for any sins committed after our purification, for example when the sons of Yisrael were at the foot of the mountain committing adultery against YAH with the golden calf, Moshe interceded, YAH wanted to destroy all the people, however Moshe stepped in and said let me handle this, and YAH allowed him to do so, he was interceding on their behalf.

    Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. (Hebrews 10:18 RNWEB)

This is referring to the forgiveness of past sins, we cannot continue to re-purify ourselves when ever we commit a sin. We need to look to the day of atonement, and the sacrifice of the priest that intercedes on our behalf.

    For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, (Hebrews 10:26 RNWEB)

If there remains no more sacrifice for our sins what do we have?

    But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable. Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to Elohim through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:24-25 RNWEB)
    Who is he who condemns? It is the Anointed who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of Elohim, who also makes intercession for us. (Romans 8:34 RNWEB)

When we accept Yahshua the anointed through baptism [purification], we accept the blood that has been shed to atone for our sins, however Yahshua rose again with a different body, to fulfill the office of intercessor, because man is still imperfect and flawed. The scripture says he ascended into heaven to appear before Elohim.

    For the Anointed hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of Elohim for us; (Hebrews 9:24 RNWEB)
    Elohim’s temple that is in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant was seen in his temple. Lightnings, sounds, thunders, an earthquake, and great hail followed. (Revelation 11:19 RNWEB)

Yahshua had to present himself before Elohim in the temple, just as it was done here by Aaron who did this to intercede and mediate for the trespasses of the sons of Yisrael, he had to enter with blood to atone for there sin. Yahshua was the blood sacrifice, however he still needs to present himself in the temple before Elohim, just as the priests had to present themselves in the temple on earth. These processes are being done so that our petitions will be accepted by Elohim, which have to go through Yahshua, who is the one that fills and presents it before the most high.

    Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a High Priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a servant of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which YAH pitched, not man. For every High Priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this High Priest also have something to offer. For if he were on earth, HE WOULD NOT BE A PRIEST AT ALL, SEEING THERE ARE PRIESTS WHO OFFER THE GIFTS ACCORDING TO THE TORAH; (Hebrews 8:1-4 RNWEB)

This is probably the reason the priesthood is reinstated during the theocratic age.

    who serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moshe was warned by Elohim when he was about to make the tabernacle, for he said, “See, you shall make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.” (Hebrews 8:5 RNWEB)

We continue in the law and confess our iniquity and express repentance just as in the old covenant. However before Yahshua we were able to see what was taking place each day and every year to atone for our iniquity, in the animal sacrificial system, the very same thing takes place in this age only behind the scenes in heaven, without the need for animal sacrifices.

    For reverent sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death. (2 Corinthians 7:10 RNWEB)

This is talking about having a reverent sorrow. With this we would never go and knowingly transgress a commandment then repent of it. We may commit a trespass through weakness or infirmity and then with tears and petitioning offer up our sorrow to Elohim.

Reverent – Respectful, reverential, admiring, devoted, devout, dutiful, awed, deferential, showing veneration.

Review

The day of atonement in this age is the one time per year Yahshua goes into the tabernacle before Elohim to act as mediator for the sins of all the people. This however does not mean we cannot make daily petitions for trespasses committed. Our prayers are received as a form of sacrifice only without the need for an animal. Under the old covenant, it wasn’t just once a year that intercessions and sacrifices were done, the system has not changed, only now most of the ceremonial processes occur behind the scenes.

    YAH called to Moshe, and spoke to him out of the Tent of Meeting, saying, “Speak to the children of Yisra’el, and tell them, ’When anyone of you offers an offering to YAH, you shall offer your offering of the livestock, from the herd and from the flock. “’If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish. He shall offer it at the door of the Tent of Meeting, that he may be accepted before YAH. (Leviticus 1:1-3 RNWEB)

This offering is going to be offered to Aaron who is the priest at this time and blood is going to be shed, the blood of the sacrifice, this is offered as a free will offering, but the sacrifice is a burnt offering which simply means it is an atoning offering. Yahshua is now are tabernacle and High Priest, and just like it was in Aaron’s time, offerings can be done daily, once per week, or anytime we want to be reconciled to Elohim before the day of Yom Kippur, which if we partake of according to the law, and with a remorseful and contrite heart will cleanse us of all sins we have committed throughout the year, including those done in ignorance, the ones we were not aware of. The important thing is we come with the right heart and uphold all the precepts that govern the day as set forth in Torah.

    “’If his offering is a sacrifice of peace offerings; if he offers it from the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before YAH. He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tent of meeting: and Aharon’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood on the altar round about. (Leviticus 3:1-2 RNWEB)

They could make a free will offering anytime they desired, they would bring an animal and slaughter it at the door of the tabernacle and the sons of Aaron would sprinkle the blood on the alter. During this age Yahshua is the sacrifice, so what do we offer now before YAH?

    Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to Elohim continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name. (Hebrews 13:15 RNWEB)

We’re to offer up a sacrifice of praise continually, remember Sha’ul said to pray without ceasing, we do this by the fruit or works of our lips and confessing his name.

    Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of Elohim, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Elohim, which is your reasonable service. (Romans 12:1 RNWEB)

Your mouth, tongue, and lips are all parts of your body, and all our praise, prayer, words, and petitions should be raised to Elohim, as we live in holiness and righteousness. This is what is required of us in this age, since Yahshua has fulfilled all the sacrificial ordinances. Once a year he stands in the temple before Elohim to confess the sins of Yisrael so they might be atoned [appeased, conciliated, propitiated] for. The prayer for our individual sins are received continually, Yahshua stands in the presence of Elohim always as the ultimate sacrifice and High Priest.

    Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Yahshua, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; (Hebrews 10:19-20 RNWEB)

We have the boldness to enter the holy place by the blood of Yahshua, it is a new and living way because he is alive propitiating with the sacrifice of his own blood, through the veil which is his flesh.

    and having a great Priest over the house of Elohim, let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water, let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:21-23 RNWEB)

Summing Up

So what happens when we sin after our purification?

We are purged of all the sins of our past at purification. We then have a clean slate, the past is no more and YAH starts documenting our activities, good or bad from this point on. We need to walk carefully, understanding that sin could be our death certificate if YAH marks it for condemnation and chooses not to blot it out! This is the point where many fall away who enter the covenant, because they do not understand what took place at their purification and regress into perdition.

There is only mercy for iniquity [lawlessness] that we commit by ignorance and through our own infirmity. We can be reconciled from these through a divinely led prayer of sacrifice, which is the sincerity of the heart that demonstrates remorse and repentance, not as the prayers of the world which are insincere and ritualistic.

    For reverent sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death. (2 Corinthians 7:10 RNWEB)

Scriptural Examples

    When he was in distress, he begged YAH his Elohim, and humbled himself greatly before the Elohim of his fathers. He prayed to him; and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Yerushalayim into his kingdom. Then Menasheh knew that YAH he was Elohim. (2 Chronicles 33:12-13 RNWEB)
    Turn back, and tell Chizkiyahu the prince of my people, Thus says YAH, the Elohim of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold, I will heal you; on the third day you shall go up to the house of YAH. (2 Kings 20:5 RNWEB)
    It happened, when Ach’av heard those words, that he tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly. The word of YAH came to Eliyahu the Tishbi, saying, See you how Ach’av humbles himself before me? because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but in his son’s days will I bring the evil on his house. (1 Kings 21:27-29 RNWEB)

YAH blots out our sins that we commit after Yahshua IF IT’S HIS DESIRE based upon the sincerity of our hearts, as illustrated in the previous scriptures with Menasheh who lived a wicked life but repented, or Ach’av who also repented and Chizkiyahu who was vain but repented, all in prayer with a sincere heart.

    Have mercy on me, Elohim, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. (Psalms 51:1 RNWEB)
    I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins: return to me; for I have redeemed you. (Isaiah 44:22 RNWEB)
    If you, YAH, kept a record of sins, Master, who could stand? (Psalms 130:3 RNWEB)

In other words YAH does not have to blot our iniquity or answer our petition when we have committed a trespass willfully, the penalty is death. However, his continued mercy and grace is what saves us, because he wants us to learn how to be obedient and realizes that it takes time, some longer than others. Nevertheless, if our nature (conscience) becomes corrupt where we blatantly disregard his commandments, then the sins are not blotted out and punishment is inevitable, up to and including damnation, the second and final death.

Final Thoughts

Sins that we do ignorantly YAH forgives. Sins that we do presumptuously YAH marks for condemnation unless a sincere heart brings about a remorseful turn. Even people of the covenant have fallen because the word has not sealed them, this is manifested in their works. Their pledge to righteousness (water baptism) was under false pretense for any number of reasons, therefore their fate is far worse. However, YAH will forgive them if they turn with ALL sincerity, and practice his covenant (keep the contract).

    It may be they will listen, and turn every man from his evil way; that I may relent from the evil which I purpose to do to them because of the evil of their doings. (Jeremiah 26:3 RNWEB)
    Now therefore amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of YAH your Elohim; and YAH will repent him of the evil that he has pronounced against you. (Jeremiah 26:13 RNWEB)

There are no guarantees, Christians offer them, but not YAH, because he knows the true intentions of one’s mind and heart, not man!

    Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to YAH, your Elohim. (Joel 2:14 RNWEB)
    Who knows whether Elohim will not turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, so that we might not perish?” (Jonah 3:9 RNWEB)
    He said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who knows whether YAH will not be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, why should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me. (2 Samuel 12:22-23 RNWEB)

YAH didn’t reverse his judgment on David’s sin. Although at that time they had the morning and evening oblation for sin, washings for sin, individual sacrifices for sin and David’s prayer. YAH chose not to remove the judgment from him, but blotted out his iniquity because this was a sin of passion and not conscience. In other words it was not David’s nature to commit this type of trespass.
